how to make apple banana bread

Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 9×5 loaf pan (I used butter). Make the batter. In a large bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, and salt. Mash bananas and whisk in sugars, sour cream, eggs, and vanilla. Fold in apples. Add wet ingredients to dry mixture until just combined.

Make the streusel. Combine all streusel ingredients until you have a crumbly mixture. Pour batter into greased loaf pan in an even layer and bake for 1 hour. Sprinkle the streusel on top and bake for 1 hour, or until a knife inserted comes out clean. Remove from oven and let cool in pan on cooling rack for 10 minutes.

tips for making apple banana bread

You can easily double this recipe to make 2 loaves. This bread is perfect for holiday gifts!

I used a Honeycrisp apple, but you can pretty much get away with any kind of apple.

Make sure not to over-mix your batter. This will make your bread tougher, so just mix the dry and wet ingredients until JUST combined.

Take it to the next level by adding a glaze on top of the streusel. Here is a easy recipe for a powdered sugar glaze!
