save the syrup!

This is possibly the best part of this whole recipe. Once the lemon slices are done simmering, you will have this amazing lemon simple syrup left. You can use this in all kinds of things, including cocktails, lemonade, and sauces.

tips for making candied lemon slices

Slice the lemons fairly thin, so you don’t have a thick piece of lemon rind to chew on. Approximately 1/8 inch thick is best.

To step this recipe up a notch, get out your dehydrator! You can pop these bad boys in the dehydrator for a couple of hours to make them even more like a piece of candy.

Sprinkle lemon slices with sugar while they are cooling for an added texture.

These candied lemon slices are even better dipped in chocolate, which also make for a great gift! You can also use this recipe with orange slices. Here’s a great recipe for Candied Orange Peels (Dipped In Chocolate).
