You gotta risk it, to get the biscuit.
These words are so true, but with these biscuits you won’t have to risk much! They are insanely easy to make, pretty much anyone can do it. I promise. Seriously these biscuits come together in about 25 minutes, so that means you can impress your guests with freshly made buttermilk biscuits pretty much anytime! Not only are they super easy and quick to make, but they taste incredible. Cheddar cheese, green onions and garlic powder give these biscuits a BIG flavor, and we all know the bigger the flavor the better, right? RIGHT!

Tips for making these cheddar and green onion buttermilk drop biscuits
Place your butter in the freezer for about 15 minutes before you grate it. This helps it stay together and form the little pockets of buttery flakey goodness when the biscuits cook.
Melt 2 tablespoons of butter and mix in 1 teaspoon of dried parsley and a pinch of salt. Brush this mix on top of the biscuits before serving.
Store in an airtight container on the counter for up to a week.
I like to make 8 medium sized biscuits. You could make more or less, just adjust your cooking time and watch them so they don’t burn!

How to make cheddar and green onion buttermilk drop biscuits
Preheat your oven to 450°F. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. For best results, pop your butter in the freezer for 15 minutes.
In a large bowl, place your self rising flour. Once the butter is nice and frozen, grate it using a cheese grater into the flour. Once it’s grated in, use your fingers to mix it into the flour until it is fully incorporated and you have a grainy flour with little lumps of butter. Add your buttermilk and stir until it forms a dough ball. Mix your cheese, green onion, garlic powder and salt into the dough ball until evenly distributed. Once the dough is formed, pinch off 8 even pieces of dough and form into rough balls. Place the dough balls evenly on your baking sheet and sprinkle the tops with a tiny bit of salt. Bake for 15 minutes, or until they start to brown.

Notes

Drop biscuits are the best. Easy to make any night of the week. The perfect side to chili, soup and stew.
These biscuits look wonderful! Such a great side dish for cosy bowl of soup or a stew! Do you think this recipe will work if I sub buttermilk for some milk with lemon juice? (I often use it as an alternative to buttermilk in sweet baking, but never done biscuits like these before)
