Miso butter delectably blends to enhance dishes with a savory richness. The deep, umami miso combined with creamy, rich butter is perfect on bread, veggies, fish, pasta – the possibilities are endless. While it’s ridiculously easy to make, the perfect balance of miso and butter is truly an elevated ingredient.

You can buy miso butter, but why spend all that money when you can buy a bottle of miso and use the rest for other delicious recipes, like miso roasted veggies or miso whipped mashed potatoes??

How To Make Miso Butter

Mix together. That’s it!

Your butter needs to be softened, so just leave a stick out 30 minutes prior, or you can use one of the many quicker ways to soften butter. I experimented a lot with this recipe to get the right balance, and I have found that 1 stick of unsalted butter (half a cup) to 2 tbsp of miso is pretty perfect.

You can really use any flavor of miso you like, but I like this with brown rice miso. This one is my favorite

How do I use my miso butter?

There are a ton of uses, but here are a few ideas:

  • Shape the butter into a ball after you’ve mixed it and wrap it in plastic wrap. Pop it into the fridge, and the next time you have guests, serve the chilled butter with crusty bread, veggies, or pieces of pita bread.
  • Use on top of steak, fish, chicken, or other meats.
  • Add to your rice for asian dishes.
  • Mix it into your pasta to add extra flavor to an every day meal. Add some veggies to your pasta and make it a meal to wow!

Instructions

  1. Let butter soften slightly, then mash with a fork. Add in miso paste and mix until thoroughly combined. Keep in an airtight container in the fridge for serveral weeks.

Notes

  1. You can use any type of miso paste for this. I like brown rice miso, which gives a richer flavor, but depending on what you are going to use this for, the options are endless!
