How To Make Homemade Roasted Garlic Butter

Start by preheating your oven. Slice off the tops of the garlic heads so the top of each clove is exposed. Take off any of the excess peel and place the head on a piece of aluminum foil. Drizzle the olive oil over the tops of the cloves and sprinkle with salt and pepper.

Wrap the aluminum foil tightly around the garlic heads and place on a baking sheet. This will keep any oil from dripping into the oven.

Bake until the garlic is golden on top and soft. While it’s cooling, mash the butter in a medium bowl. When the garlic is cool enough to touch, squeeze out the cloves into the butter. Mash everything together, sprinkling with a little more salt. Use it right away, or you can store it in airtight container in the fridge for up to a month.

Notes

  1. You can definitely use garlic confit in place of this tin foil roasted garlic, since they both result in soft, sweet garlic cloves. Just drain the oil out first!
  2. This stuff is good in EVERYTHING. Spread it on bread but also use it for pasta, rice, in savory baked goods I mean the possibilities are endless!
  3. Feel free to add more or less garlic. You can cut this recipe in half or just use 1 stick of softened butter with the same amount of garlic, it’s totally up to you! Same goes with the salt and pepper. This recipe is a basic guideline for you to know how to make it, but you can tweak it to your specific tastes really easily!
